Is there a difference between lemon grass and lemon balm?
I have an unopened packet of seasoning I got in a Mexican shop, and it is labelled lemon balm. I actually don't know what you do with lemon balm, and I'm wondering if it is the same spice as lemon grass that is used in a lot of Thai and Vietnamese dishes.
Quite simply, Lemon Balm is a leaf and used for teas and in some food dishes, Lemongrass is a stalky, quite woody plant that is use in soups, sauces, teas, marinades and in flavourings, they are 2 very different products, you can grow both in your home in flower pots, lemon balm will grow all year round on the window sill.
Now Lemongrass is trickier as it need a wetter climate and lots of sunlight, it can be tricky the time around.
