how do i prepare and cook a globe artichoke?
i have no idea...please help!
First to clean it, snip off the lower leaves half way, trim the stem by cutting off some of the bottom. you can peel the rest of the stem with a peeler or small knife. wash it by letting water run into the leaves. I've read you should dunk and plunge up and down in a bowl of water/sink, but this makes a mess!
to cook, you can steam it for 20-40 minutes, depends on size. you can tell when it's done because lower leaves easily pull off. You can also microwave it, by making it wet, putting in a plastic bag and zapping it for 6 to 8 minutes. Oh heck, I googled it for you, there are pictures here:
