I want my house back!?
We babyproofed the house so carefully when our son started crawling that he's never really grasped the concept of boundaries. I put all my nice things away because I was so afraid he would destroy them or hurt himself. Most of these things are heirlooms-- I can't just go buy a new one at Target.
Anyway, I've decided I'd like to have my house back for at least a little while. We're expecting another baby next month and it would be nice to feel like this house is my home at least until she starts crawling. I'm tired of living in a giant playpen. What's the best way to teach my son that not everything within his reach is a toy?
I never baby proofed my house too much. I put the covers on the outlets & put locks on cupboards, but I left everything else the same. It seemed like since it had always been there, my kids never really messed with much. When they did try, I just took their hands and said NO, in a stern voice. Then distracted them with their own toys.
