4 Seasons in Blue Mountain
If you have already discovered that "the" spot to vacation in Ontario is at Blue Mountain, then you already know that this is one on Ontario's premier places to go. You already know that there is so much to see and do. Now it is time to start to plan what you would like to see and do. In addition to the year-round shopping, dining and entertainment experiences, Blue Mountain Village has many annual and seasonal events. What is taking place depends upon the season you plan to visit.
Spring (April and May)
- Over the Easter weekend, you can take part in the annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Village of Blue Mountain.
- The long weekend in May showcases three days of music, fireworks and fun for everyone. This is also the weekend when many of the restaurants open up for patio dining. A typical Easter weekend celebration will include a rib eating contest, face painting, scavenger hunts, live music, and hiking opportunities.
Summer (June to September)
- Enjoy watching a movie outdoors, under the stars. Every Friday, the Village Events Plaza puts on a free outdoor movie, fun games and prizes.
- XC series is a weekly sports event for cross-country bike racers.
- Canada Day celebrations on July 1st include free activities throughout. Enjoy street performers, live music, hikes, free gondola rides, splash fountain, scavenger hunts, and a movie under the stars.
- Weekly concerts.
- Summer day camps for kids.
- Music festivals.
- Guided hikes for your entire family. Take a 40 minute walk along trails and see the beauty of the country-side, then take a gondola ride back down to the village.
- The annual Elvis Festival. This is a three-day festival that features some of best Elvis performers.
- A downhill mountain bike race that spans over two days in July.
- The Village Beach Party with live music, beach volleyball, and much more. This event is typically held over the long weekend in August.
- Some of the more typical summer events may include seeing and learning about the free-flying birds or prey from a show put on by the Canadian Raptor Conservancy, a street party celebrating Latin culture, a chilli cook-off, and various festivals.
Fall (October and November)
- Enjoy the annual Blue Mountains Apple Harvest Festival that is held during the Thanksgiving weekend. You will take pleasure in live music, the Apple Pie Trail, street performers, and much more.
Winter (December to February)
- There is no slowing down during the winter season with downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, hiking, shopping, fine dining, relaxing at the spa, swimming, along with the atmosphere at Blue Mountain Village.
There are many accommodations to be found in the Blue Mountain and surrounding areas. Depending on what your preference is, you will be able to find a place to stay at a hotel, a motel, a bed and breakfast, or you can choose the privacy of renting a house or chalet. There is an extensive list of rental accommodations at the Blue Mountain Chalet Rental website. You will be able to find exactly what you need, from a small house for two persons to a large house for a group of people, a location that is right in the village, or a secluded and completely private location.
Disclaimer: Events and activities may not be exactly as indicated above. Entertainment and activities may change from year to year.
